The four primary aspects of web designs are:Content, Technology, Visuals,
and Economics.
Technology implements the fundation of the site. The primary purpose
of the contents is to inform or perhaps persuade users. Visuals provide
the form for the site. Last but not the least, economic ramificaions
of building a site depends upon the objective and type of the site.
Let us understand websites metaphorically as pyramids. Contents provide
the bricks we use to build the pyramid. Its foundation rests solidly
on visuals and technology. The sites rely heavily on economics for its
success.
First, The objective of the site should be well defined, and then determine
how the defined goals can be accomplished. a clear understanding of the
purpose will reduce the risk of the project failing and help determine
if it is reasonable to the site at all. Next, a design for the site should
be produced which should include both visual and technichal prototypes.
Once the design is finalised, the site should be implemented and tested.
Eventually, all pieces of site, including the content should be integrated
and further tested. Only then the site should be released.
A common mistake made in Web development is that sites are built more
for designers and their needs than for sites actual users. A site cannot
be a good or a popular site if designers ignore the need of their users.
There is an important tenet of Web Design:
* Designers are not users. Users are not designers.
Good websites are useful to their users. Usefulness is the combination
of utility and usability. Utility described the site's functionality
that meets a user's need. Usability describes the user's ability to manipulate
site's features in order to accomplish his purpose of visiting the site
without any error.
